CM Naqvi assents to Punjab Clean Air Policy

Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi on Thursday presided over the 7th meeting of Punjab Environment Protection Council in which he gave the nod to Punjab Clean Air Policy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The meeting also approved the comprehensive action plans of the Department of Transport, Agriculture, Industry, Environment, Local Government, Housing, Urban Development, Energy, Labor and other related departments under the Punjab Clean Air Policy. 

Moreover, the meeting decided that the concerned departments will prepare a detailed working plan for the implementation of the Punjab Clean Air Policy whereas the Punjab Government will implement the Punjab Clean Air Policy and Action Plan with assistance from the World Bank. 

Similarly, Punjab Plastic Management Strategy was also approved in the meeting. 

Modern technology will be introduced for recycling and reuse of plastic and the relevant department will also receive incentives in this regard. 

The capacity of the concerned departments will be increased and a robust awareness campaign will be carried out. 

Secretary Environment gave a briefing about the important features of Punjab Clean Air Policy and Punjab Plastic Management Strategy.

Chief Secretary, Secretaries of Environment, Planning and Development Board, Irrigation, Specialized Health and Medical Education, Primary and Secondary Health, Housing, Industry, Forest, Local Government, DG Environment Protection Authority Punjab and relevant officials attended the meeting.
