Special Coordinator on Political Affairs to Punjab CM Awn Chaudhry has tendered his resignation to Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Awn Chaudhry was asked to resign after it was established that he was an active member of the Jahangir Tareen Group. He forwarded his resignation to the chief minister in a meeting in Lahore on Friday.
Giving reasons for his resignation, he wrote that he was appointed as an adviser to the chief minister without any portfolio. He said he worked tirelessly ignoring his family and private life.
He further said “I was told to either to quit Tareen Group or step down. Everyone knows that Jahangir Tareen has done a lot for the party. His role in government formation at the Centre and in Punjab after 2018 elections was in front of everyone. My conscience does now allow me get away from a loyal PTI member. It’s better to resign than to quit Tareen Group.”
Earlier, there were reports that the Punjab government had decided to take resignations from Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) on Information and Culture Firdous Ashiq Awan and Awn Chaudhry.
It is pertinent to remind here that Firdous Ashiq Awan had decided to call it a day on July 19, 2021 only to take back her decision on the same day when Prime Minister Imran Khan rejected her resignation and asked her to go ahead with her job.
The sources had divulged to 24News TV channel then that the special assistant to Punjab CM had decided to resign as she wanted to take part in the Sialkot by-election of PP-38.
Awn Chaudry had been appointed as adviser to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in September 2018.
