Sialkot lynching: Rasheed assures Lankan envoy of bringing culprits to book

Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has assured Sri Lankan High Commission Vice Admiral Mohan Vijay Karma to bring the culprits of the Sialkot lynching to book.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the interior minister visited the Sri Lankan High Commission office in Islamabad on Monday and called on the Lankan Commissioner.

During the meeting in Islamabad, Sheikh Rasheed had expressed his condolences on the death of Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Diyawadana Kumara in the Sialkot Tragedy.

Sheikh Rasheed ensured the Lankan diplomate that the Pakistani government will give exemplary punishment to all the culprits involved in the lynching of Priyantha.

The Interior Minister had expressed deep grief and sorrow with the Lankan commissioner on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan over the tragic incident.

The Interior Minister said the people of Pakistan are mourning the tragic death of Priyantha Kumara. No concessions will be made to anyone involved in the torture and death of Priyantha Kumara, Rasheed promised the Lankan envoy.

On this occasion, Sri Lankan Commissioner said relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are very long and will not be affected by such incidents.

Sri Lankan envoy seemed to be thankful to the Government of Pakistan for sending the body of Priyantha Kumara to Sri Lanka with official honours.
