Entry of heavy vehicles in Lahore banned for three days

The Punjab government has decided to impose complete ban on entry of heavy vehicles in Lahore from Friday to Sunday (three days) in order to tackle smog in the city, reported 4NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Ammara Ather said that no loader trolley will be allowed to enter in the city from Friday to Sunday. She said that DSPs will be deputed on 12 entry and exit points of the city to ensure implementation of this ban.

She further said that that all damaged, low quality, vehicles and vehicles found in omitting dangerous smoke and running without any fitness certificates will also be impounded. 

Ammara Ather said that those vehicles which were being used for transportation of petrol, medicines, eatable items and passenger buses will be exempted from this ban but only allowed to enter in the city after thorough checking.

She said that a crackdown against vehicles omitting poisonous smoke is on-going and hundreds of vehicles being detained while traffic officials also imposed Rs20 million fine on these vehicles.

She said that all Punjab traffic department adopted all measures for 100 percent implementation on ban. Ammara Ather said that currently 12 anti-smog squads performing their duties efficiently across the city.
