Mystery solved as Punjab University student was shot dead by friend

Punjab University student's murder mystery was solved on Friday as the student was shot dead by a friend sitting inside a car instead motorcyclists targeted him which was earlier told, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The police have taken one of the accused into custody and started an investigation.

According to police sources, Rana Ammar, a student of the Gender Studies Department was shot and killed.

Sources said that Dilawar, Huzaifa and Ammar were three friends inside the car. 

Dilawar was driving the car while Ammar was sitting in the other front seat. 

A student named Huzaifa was in the back seat of the car and the weapon was with Huzaifa. 

Ammar was hit by a bullet from the firing inside the car, which injured him and he died in the hospital. 

After the firing incident, Huzaifa fled from the scene while Dilawar reached the hospital with Ammar. 

However, the police have taken Dilawar into custody and started an investigation. 

Investigation is underway on whether the firing was sudden or due to a dispute, police sources said.

Muslim Town police have registered a case of Rana Ammar's murder on the complaint of his father Javed.

A case has been registered against Dilawar and Huzaifa, who were in the car with Ammar.

Police handed over the student's body to the relatives after postmortem.
