Fazl to address JUI rally at Karachi's Kakri Ground on Dec 21

A large religious congregation is set to take place in Lyari on December 21 as Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman prepares to address a public meeting at the historic Kakri Ground, officially known as Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar Park.

The announcement was made by JUI South District Karachi Ameer, Maulana Noor-ul-Haq, who said preparations are already underway.

The event will feature the collective Khatm-e-Bukhari Sharif ceremony, jointly organised by prominent religious schools of Karachi’s South District. Wifaq ul Madaris Al-Arabiya President, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, will also attend the gathering, adding to the significance of the ceremony.

As part of the programme, Maulana Fazlur Rehman will teach the concluding hadith of Sahih Bukhari and will also participate in the traditional ceremony for graduating students who have completed the Dars-e-Nizami course. Senior scholars, including Mufti Taqi Usmani, will offer prayers and guidance to the new graduates.

The conference—hosted by JUI South District for the first time—is expected to draw prominent scholars from Sindh and Balochistan, as well as provincial Ameer Maulana Abdul Qayyum Halijoui, who will preside over the proceedings. Allama Rashid Mahmood Soomro will serve as chief organiser of the public meeting.

Maulana Noor-ul-Haq said that the upcoming rally is poised to become “an important milestone in the history of Karachi,” noting the excitement among major religious institutions in the district. He added that residents of Lyari, Saddar Town, and nearby Cantonment areas are eager to give Maulana Fazlur Rehman a historic welcome.

With preparations in full swing, organisers say the December 21 gathering will mark one of the most significant religious events in the city this year.
