Priyanka Chopra amplifies Janhvi Kapoor’s call for gender equality: “It starts with a conversation”

Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra has come out in support of fellow Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor’s stance on gender equality, resharing a video of the actor on her Instagram story and reinforcing the idea that meaningful change begins by speaking up.

The video, which Priyanka reposted on Friday, features Janhvi discussing the importance of gender equality.

According to The Hindustan Times, the Don 2 actress is aligning herself with the Dhadak actress' thoughts on the need to use one’s voice to ignite conversations, encourage debate, and help younger generations better grasp the real meaning of equality. By giving Janhvi a shoutout on Instagram, Priyanka amplified her message.

In the reposted clip, Janhvi is heard highlighting women’s equality and declaring that “there is no greater privilege than being a woman.”

Priyanka captioned it with: “It starts with a conversation so here I go. Preach Janhvi Kapoor." 

Janhvi’s video was recorded at the recently held We The Women Asia event in Mumbai, where she spoke at length about gender equality and the power and resilience inherent to womanhood.

She said, “I think it starts with conversation, it starts with debate, it starts with being able to use your voice and encouraging, people, you know, the generation ahead of you to sort of be more aware about what being an equal actually means, because as women, I really think that we're completely unstoppable, We just need to realize that a little bit more. And that truly is no bigger privilege than being a woman, we just need to start being treated the same way.”

Janhvi, daughter of the late Bollywood cinema icon Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor, emphasized that greater awareness and acknowledgment of women’s equality is necessary across society.

On the work front, Priyanka is preparing for her return to Indian cinema after several years, starring in SS Rajamouli’s Telugu film Varanasi, which features Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The movie is slated for release during Sankranthi 2027.

Priyanka will also appear in The Bluff, where she plays a 19th-century Caribbean pirate, and continues work on the second season of her web series Citadel.

Janhvi, who was last seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, will next appear in Ram Charan’s Peddi.
