Govt mulling to slap 17pc excise duty on business-class air tickets

The government is mulling to slap a 17 percent excise duty on the business class air tickets of the international flights, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday. 

The government has decided to put additional 17% excise duty on business class air tickets for passengers coming from abroad or going to foreign destinations. 

Sources divulged that the government has apprised the IMF team about its plan to impose additional duty on air tickets. 

In this way, the government would collect Rs50,000 under the head of federal excise duty on the international flight tickets, they added. 

The decision would be implemented after getting final approval from the federal government.
