Finance Minister Aurangzeb says govt has made significant strides in economic sector
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Thursday that the government had some important achievements to its credit in the economic sector, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing an event in Islamabad, he said that significant progress had been made on the micro-economic front. “We plan to introduce administrative reforms,” he informed.
He in order to cut down its expenditures, the government had decided to amalgamate some ministries.
Similarly, he added, steps were being taken to broaden the tax base.
Welcoming the legislation done by provincial governments on the levy of tax on agricultural income, Aurangzeb termed the step very important.
The minister further said that there were two key issues confronting the country: the population, which was growing at a rapid pace, and the climate change. “Both these issues take a toll on the country’s economy,” he opined.
He went on to say that keeping in view the impact of climate change on the country, the government was encouraging the promotion of green technology.
