Imran Khan’s right eye successfully treated at PIMS, medical report confirms

Founding Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and former prime minister Imran Khan’s right eye was successfully treated at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), according to an official medical report.

On the instructions of the Prime Minister, the Executive Director of PIMS forwarded a detailed medical condition report to the authorities of Adiala Jail.

According to the PIMS administration, Imran Khan’s overall health is satisfactory.

The medical report stated that Imran Khan had complained of reduced vision in his right eye, following which a senior ophthalmologist from PIMS conducted a comprehensive examination at Adiala Jail.

The assessment included slit lamp examination, fundoscopy, intraocular pressure measurement, laboratory tests and optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the retina.

Based on the examination, Imran Khan was diagnosed with right central retinal vein occlusion, the report said. He was subsequently shifted to PIMS late at night for further treatment as advised by doctors.

According to the report, Imran Khan was administered an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection at PIMS. The treatment was carried out in the operation theatre under standard sterile protocols and monitoring and was completed successfully in approximately 20 minutes.

The report said the patient remained vitally stable throughout the procedure and was discharged with routine post-procedure care instructions and follow-up advice.

Sources said the medical report has also been received by Imran Khan’s family.
