Islamabad to be developed on Shanghai lines, says Mohsin Naqvi

Federal Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday said Islamabad would be developed on the model of Shanghai after he expressed deep admiration for the Chinese metropolis’s master planning, rapid development, and advanced urban facilities during an official visit.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the interior minister made the remarks while visiting the headquarters of Shanghai Urban Planning, where he was received by its head, Madam Chen.

During the visit, Mohsin Naqvi was given a comprehensive briefing on Shanghai’s urban master plan, development strategies, civic infrastructure, and technology-driven governance systems that have enabled the city’s swift transformation.

Through detailed presentations, including videos and scale models, the interior minister was introduced to Shanghai’s development journey and its long-term planning framework.

The interior minister also examined a model of a state-of-the-art stadium designed as part of the city’s modern urban landscape.

Expressing particular interest in Shanghai’s integrated data and planning systems, Mohsin Naqvi praised the use of advanced technology to ensure coordination and efficiency in city management.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi described Shanghai as a global example of rapid and sustainable urban development, noting that its experience offered valuable lessons for other major cities.

Reiterating his commitment, the minister said Islamabad would be developed along similar lines and that immediate steps would be taken to draw from Shanghai’s successful urban development model.

Federal Secretary of the Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha, Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and Inspector General of Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi accompanied the interior minister during the visit.
