Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet made headlines worldwide after the actor, 30, won the Best Actor award at the 2026 Critics' Choice Awards and openly expressed his love for Kylie, 28.

The public declaration came amid years of on-and-off relationship rumours, surprising fans who were used to the couple keeping their romance private.

The sudden display of affection also followed reports that the couple had briefly separated just two months ago.

Timothee’s heartfelt speech included a tribute to Kylie, where he said, “Lastly, I'll just say, thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I couldn't do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Kylie was seen mouthing “I love you” from the audience, while resting her chin on her folded hands. The couple also shared a sweet kiss on stage as he accepted the award.

Celebrity psychologists have explained that such public displays of affection are often strategic.

Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of Press Box PR, told the Daily Mail that the couple’s gestures serve as “social proof and relationship validation.”

He added that public declarations help assure fans and media that the relationship is real and secure. “It isn't just for the cameras — they are in this relationship for the long haul,” Stanton said.

Relationship expert Dr Kathy Nickerson highlighted the professional dimension of such gestures. “Celebrity relationships are part of a brand narrative,” she said.

 “When a couple appears stable and affectionate, it positively affects public perception, sponsorships, and business ventures.”

Both psychologists emphasized that timing is crucial, with events like the Critics' Choice Awards providing maximum media exposure.

Following the ceremony, Kylie shared photos of her Marty Supreme-inspired look on Instagram, featuring an orange sequined Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown.

Timothee responded by liking the post and leaving several orange heart emojis in the comments, further signalling their closeness to fans.
