4,836 Muharram processions taken out across country

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi monitored Muharram processions' movement all over the country from Islamabad on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As many as 4,836 Muharram processions were taken out all over the country, and 5,480 majalis were held, and 1,301 areas have already been declared as sensitive.

After directives from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Central Monitoring Cell was in contact with the control rooms established by other provincial governments.

Mohsin Naqvi, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary, and Secretary Interior Khurram Agha also monitored the movements of the processions round the clock.

Ministry of Interior also updated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about the latest situation of law and order all over the country.

Strict protective measures were adopted for the security of the Muharram processions in Islamabad, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.

As many as 54 majalis, 12 Muharram processions were taken out in Islamabad, and 2,502 majalis and 3,025 Muharram processions have been taken out in Punjab, in Sindh 1,040 majalis and 1,039 Muharram processions, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 735 majalis and 257 Muharram processions were taken out.

In Balochistan 32 majalis 24 Muharram processions, Gilgit Baltistan, 1070 majalis and 141 Muharram processions, Azad Kashmir 47 majalis and 141 Muharram processions will be taken out.

Mohsin Naqvi said that all law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) are on high alert as they were on 9th of Muharram. He said a crackdown is underway against those persons who are spreading religious hatred material on social media.

He hoped that Youm-e-Aashur would pass smoothly. He paid glowing tributes to the Pakistan Army, Police, district administration, and other relevant departments.
