FIA arrests suspected human trafficker in Gujranwala over Rs112.5 million fraud

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a suspected human trafficker wanted in five cases during an operation in Gujranwala, alleging he defrauded citizens of Rs112.5 million by promising jobs in European countries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.

According to an FIA Gujranwala Zone spokesperson, the suspect, identified as Muhammad Bashir, was arrested by the FIA Gujranwala Circle.

The spokesperson said Bashir allegedly collected a total of Rs112.5 million from victims after promising to arrange employment in Italy, Greece and other European countries.

Investigators alleged that the suspect illegally sent several victims to Italy through Azerbaijan and Dubai.

The FIA said the suspect also used fake travel documents and forged visas to facilitate the illegal travel of victims.

According to the spokesperson, the use of fraudulent documents led to the arrest of several victims abroad and damaged Pakistan's reputation internationally.

The FIA said Muhammad Bashir was wanted in five human trafficking cases and that further investigation is underway.
