The federal government has announced that in all federal educational institutions it has been decided to promote students of 1st to 4th, 6th and 7th classes without examination, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday, quoting sources.

The Federal Ministry of Education certified that 5th and 8th examinations would be conducted.

The Director-General of the Federal Directorate of Education approved the announcements and will issue a schedule for the fifth and eighth grade examinations. 

Education authorities said students will be promoted on the basis of last year's results.

The officials of the education ministry said that last year students from 1st class to 8th were not promoted without examination and 90 percent of students took the exams.

However, in Punjab, provincial Education Minister Dr Murad Raas vowed that there would be no online examination this year and he would ensure it because online exams mean “cheating”. 

Talking to a private TV channel, Dr Murad Raas said that last year there were no exams and students were promoted without having any exams but this year he would ensure on-campus exams.
