Fire erupts in forests of Galyat, Shakargarh

Fire broke out at two different locations in the forests of tourist spot Galyat near Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and also in the forest of bordering village Chamal in Shakargarh, Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to the rescue sources, fire erupted in Thai and Bagnotar forests of Galyat, and it spread as far as four kilometers.
Fire brigades, police and locals are busy extinguishing the fire and carrying out rescue operations till the filing of the report.
Local settlements are being rescued from the fire which has burnt down hundreds of plants, trees and wildlife.
Meanwhile, fire also broke out in the forest of Chamal, a bordering village of Shakargarh.
It burnt down valuable trees including shisham worth millions.
The fire spread over half of the 60-acre area, endangering the wildlife in the forest.
A video of a lion and lioness, moving their cubs to a safe place, was made available to 24NewsHD TV channel.
On the occasion, the locals said that the eruption of fires should be investigated on a daily basis, for the millions of rupees were lost due to sudden forest fires.
