Mohsin Naqvi reaches Tehran, carrying special message for Iranian leadership
Pakistani officials remain in contact with leaders of both Iran and the US since the conflict began in late February, relaying messages and peace proposals between the two sides
As part of Pakistan's mediation efforts, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reached Iran on Saturday, carrying special message for Iranian leadership, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to sources, Mohsin Naqvi is carrying a “special message” from Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also gave special directives to the interior minister regarding the peace talks.
Before leaving for Iran tour, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore and briefed him on ongoing peace efforts between Iran and US.
Mohsin Naqvi has returned to Islamabad after completing his visit to Kyrgyzstan where he addressed the meeting of SCO interior ministers.
It may be mentioned here that during his stay in Kyrgyz capital Bishkek Mohsin Naqvi held back-to-back meetings with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni to discuss the evolving Middle East security situation, as diplomatic efforts to revive stalled US-Iran talks remain deadlocked.
“Met my dear brother, Eskandar Momeni, Interior Minister of Iran again,” Naqvi said in a post on X. “We reviewed the evolving regional security situation and discussed matters of mutual interest,” he added.

An informed source told IRNA, an Iranian news agency that Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi is carrying an important message from Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Pakistani Army Chief to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.
According to an IRNA correspondent on Saturday, this informed source stated that Naqvi had intensive consultations with government officials, including Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, before leaving for Tehran.
Pakistani officials have remained in contact with leaders of both Iran and the US since the conflict began in late February, relaying messages and peace proposals between the two sides.
They also played an instrumental role in bringing about a fragile ceasefire on April 8. While the arrangement largely remains in place, peace talks between the two sides have stalled over issues related to Iran’s uranium enrichment programme and the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran closed following joint US-Israeli strikes on Tehran.
Mohsin Naqvi and Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir also visited Iran in May to hold high-level meetings aimed at advancing mediation efforts and helping secure a breakthrough in talks between the two sides.
Pakistan’s engagement with Iran has intensified as tensions have risen again, with Iranian and US forces carrying out sporadic strikes against each other.
