Vaneeza challenges culture of tolerance imposed on women
Pakistani model and actress Vaneeza Ahmed has sparked discussion online after sharing her thoughts on how constant emotional suppression can affect women over time.
Speaking on a live TV show, Vaneeza opined that many women are raised to tolerate discomfort, disappointment and unfair treatment without expressing their feelings.
According to Vaneeza, this habit of constantly "bearing" things can leave a lasting impact on emotional and physical wellbeing.
Using a childhood example, Vaneeza recalled how children are often expected to wear uncomfortable clothes chosen by adults, even when they dislike them.
She explained that a child may be physically uncomfortable but is still expected to stay silent because parents want them to look presentable.
She stressed that children should not be taught to tolerate everything at the expense of their own comfort and self-respect.
Instead, they should be encouraged to communicate their feelings and set healthy boundaries.
The actress also mentions the importance of teaching young girls how to say "no" when something makes them uncomfortable.
According to Vaneeza, respect for parents and elders is important, but children should also learn that their emotions and concerns matter.
During the discussion, she suggested that women often carry emotional burdens for years because they are conditioned to prioritize everyone else's needs before their own.
She encouraged people to express themselves in a healthy way.
