Suo motu powers being misused, says Justice Mansoor Ali Shah

Supreme Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has said that the judges should have suo motu powers but it was being misused, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Addressing the “Future of Pakistan” conference in London, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said that the appointment of judges through selection was inappropriate.
He also stated that judicial activism was permissible, but it should not be politicised.
“Pakistan’s judicial system needs fundamental reforms,” he said.
“There should be no more than a year for hearing of a case,” he added.
