LHC issues notice to Punjab health secretary in contempt case

The Lahore High Court has issued notice to Health Secretary Nadia Saqib on contempt of court petition in matter of non-payment of medicines worth Rs8.8 million to government hospitals, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The court also issued notice to Secretary Health Nadia Saqib and sought a reply.

Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed heard the petition of citizen Shahid Maqbool.

The petitioners lawyer submitted that medicines worth Rs8.8 million were provided to the Health Department under the Health Facilitation Program but the dues were not paid as per the stipulated time.

In this regard applications were given to the Health Secretary and other officers but the petitioner approached the Lahore High Court for non-payment of the dues. 

The court ordered the secretary to decide on the pending application for payment of the dues but the court's order has not been complied with yet. 

The petitioner requested that contempt of court action should be taken against the Punjab Health Secretary for disobeying the order.
