Public holiday at schools, colleges in Karachi on March 11
Authorities in Karachi have announced a public holiday for educational institutions on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali (may God be pleased with him), according to an official notification issued on Friday.
The notification states that all schools and colleges in the city will remain closed on March 11, 2026, which corresponds to 21st Ramadan, to mark the religious occasion.
Officials said the holiday has been declared to allow students, teachers and staff to observe Youm-e-Ali (may God be pleased with them), which commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib, the fourth Caliph of Islam, may God be pleased with him.
Every year, religious gatherings and processions are held across the country to mark the day, while special security arrangements are also typically put in place in major cities.
Educational institutions in Karachi will resume normal activities after the holiday.
