The Punjab police have named Gujranawala Police Line after SSP Ashraf Marth as they are commemorating the 24th anniversary of the martyrdom of the brave officer today.

On May 6, 1997, SSP Ashraf Marth embraced martyrdom in a terrorist attack when he along with constable Shamim was going to his office in Gujranwala. He was on the list of best officers in the 1990s and had a record of working day and night to purge sectarian killings out of the Pak land.

His colleagues say he was second to none and his commitment to curb the crime always made people feel safe. He never bowed to injustice. He always stood firms to help the helpless and fought against terrorists from the front. The department named the Gujranwala Police Line after him in recognition of his sacrifice for the peace.
