Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to enhance cooperation against narcotics

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry called on Major General Muhammad bin Saeed Al-Qarni, Director General of Anti-Narcotics of Saudi Arabia. 

According to an official statement during the meeting Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to increase bilateral cooperation on anti-narcotics efforts. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in combating drug trafficking. 

Talal Chaudhry stated that Pakistan has a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics. He further says that the Anti-Narcotics Force is performing well despite limited resources. 

Talal Chaudhry highlighted that drugs worth $21 billion were seized last year. He also mentioned that over 40 percent of the world’s drug production comes from Afghanistan, and illegal residents in Pakistan are linked to serious crimes like drug trafficking and terrorism. 

Major General Al-Qarni appreciated Pakistan’s efforts and called for joint work to eliminate the drug menace. 

At the end of the meeting, Talal Chaudhry presented honorary shields to the delegation on behalf of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and conveyed his best wishes.
