Pakistan, US agree to strengthen economic partnership

Pakistan and United States on Tuesday announced the strengthening of a long-standing strategic and economic partnership marked by recent high-level engagements and a mutual commitment to enhancing trade and investment linkages, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel. 

According to the press release, Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan held a productive meeting with the US Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-Pakistan Business Council (USPBC). 

Ms. Natalie A. Baker, who is the US diplomat in Islamabad, was also part of the team. The delegation was led by Charles Freeman, a senior official from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. 

Minister Jam Kamal said that the visit of the USPBC will make economic ties stronger between Pakistan and the U.S. He also praised the USPBC for its efforts over the past 20 years in boosting trade, investment, and business opportunities between the two countries. 

The Commerce Minister said that Pakistan’s economy is getting better day by day under the leadership of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. 

In response, Charles Freeman from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce thanked the Government of Pakistan for its kind support. He said that Pakistan is fully committed to facilitating businesses and looks forward to continued dialogue and technical cooperation to support economic growth and job creation in both countries. 

In the end, the Federal Commerce Minister says that the visit of the U.S.-Pakistan Business Council from May 5 to 7 was a good chance to talk, build partnerships, and create new business opportunities.
