Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday visited Simly Dam near Islamabad where he was briefed about the present condition of the dam as well as its proposed expansion, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He was briefed that 40 per cent of water was supplied to Islamabad from the dam.

He, on the occasion, directed that a comprehensive plan for the expansion of the dam be presented at the earliest so that uninterrupted supply of sufficient quantity of water to Islamabad could be ensured.

The minister also had a view of the dam’s surroundings and sought a plan for the promotion of recreational activities there, saying there existed lot of room for such activities in the area. “The suburbs of the dam will develop through the promotion of water sports and other games,” Naqvi said.

He expressed the hope that the development of the area would generate employment opportunities for the locals.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman, IGP Islamabad and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
