Court grants bail of two journalists in case registered under PECA laws

The District and Sessions Courts, Islamabad, have approved the pre-arrest bail applications of journalists Rizwan Ghilzai and Aqil Hussain in a case registered under the PECA Act.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka conducted the hearing.

The court confirmed the bail of both the accused against bonds of Rs10,000.

The petitioner’s lawyer took plea that this baseless FIR was filed because the petitioners did not give their opinion in the tweet but shared the content as hundreds of people shared the relevant clip, are there cases against everyone.

However, prosecution requested to reject the bail application.

The court pronounced the verdict on the bail applications after the parties completed their arguments.

Journalist Fakhar-ur-Rehman's bail has already been granted after his arrest in the same case.

The NCCIA has registered a case against the accused.
