Pakistan moves to secure emergency LNG supplies amid possible Qatar disruption
Bids invited from global companies for two LNG shipments: Cargo deliveries scheduled for May under fast-track arrangement
Pakistan has decided to arrange emergency spot purchases of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in anticipation of a possible disruption in supplies from Qatar, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to sources, Pakistan LNG Limited has invited bids from international companies for the supply of two LNG cargoes. The bidding process will close on 7 May, with bids to be opened on the same day.
Officials said the move has been taken to ensure uninterrupted gas availability in case of any supply interruption from existing agreements. The decision reflects efforts to secure additional energy resources through the global spot market.
Sources further said that the first LNG cargo is scheduled for delivery between 12 and 14 May, while the second shipment is expected to arrive between 24 and 26 May.
