Punjab IG refuses to work under Punjab govt

Punjab Inspector General (IG) Faisal Shahkar has refused to work under the Punjab government requesting the establishment division to let him serve under the federal government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Punjab Inspector General (IG) Shahkar wrote a letter to the establishment division and requested immediate transfer.

In his letter, the IG stated that it is difficult for him to continue his current assignments under the Punjab government. He cited personal reason behind his decision.

Meanwhile, the establishment division has received IG Shahkar’s letter. 

Sources in establishment division revealed that the federal government would accept Punjab IG’s request. 

It is pertinent to mention here that IG Shahkar has been appointed as the United Nations Police Adviser in the Department of Peace Operations (DPO) by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Nov 1. He will soon join the UN post.
