APTMA writes to Deputy PM Dar against Ministry of Food Security

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has written a letter to Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar over the flouting of his orders by the Ministry of Food Security, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

In its letter, APTMA said that the ministry had refused to comply with Dar’s orders regarding the collection of cotton cess.

The Association further said that the deputy prime minister had ordered changes in the rules of collection of the cess.

It was mentioned in the letter that the ministry had also rejected the proposal to set up Pakistan Cotton Board.

A recommendation had been made to increase the role of the private sector in the Board.

APTMA wrote that a recommendation had also been made that 70 per cent of the cess would be spent on research for increasing the cotton crop production in the country.

It was also stated that an agreement had been reached that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) would collect the cess.
