Man gets 8-year jail, Rs26m fine for selling fake medicines

Drug Court Rawalpindi has sentenced shopkeeper Abdul Razzaq, owner of Badshah Di Hatti, to a total of 8 years and 3 months in prison and a fine of Rs 26 million in the case of selling fake and unregistered medicines, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the details, the court has sentenced him to five years in prison and a fine of Rs 1 million for illegally manufacturing drugs, while he was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of Rs 25 million for selling unregistered drugs. 

Moreover, in case of failure to pay the fine, the accused will have to serve another 24 months in prison. The verdict was given by Muhammad Faisal Butt, Chairman of the Drug Court Rawalpindi Division. The accused Abdul Razzaq ordered to be transferred to Adiala Jail after being sentenced.
