UK praises Pakistan's role in global peace

The United Kingdom has appreciated Pakistan's mediation efforts and lauded its role for global peace.

The appreciation came at a meeting between Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott in Islamabad today.

Speaking on the occasion, Jane Marriott said Pakistan effectively handled the petroleum supply situation and played a positive role by effectively managing its relations with the United States and Iran.

In his remarks, the Minister said that Pakistan is committed to promoting peace and stability through negotiations and diplomatic engagement. He said Pakistan maintained the continuity of supply through timely measures.

Ali Pervaiz Malik friendly countries including Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates cooperated in supplying petroleum during the period of uncertainty.

The Minister said that government is providing protection to vulnerable groups through targeted subsidies. He further said that fertilizer prices in Pakistan are one-third of those in neighboring countries.

Both sides also discussed prospects of cooperation for regulatory and institutional strengthening between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
