Islamabad High Court Monday rejected an application against the appointment of new Director General of Civil Aviation Authority, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
On last Friday, the federal government appointed Flight Lieutenant (retired) Khaqan Murtaza as permanent Director General of Civil Aviation Authority. Khaqan Murtaza has also performed his duties as managing director of the Utility Stores Corporation.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court has declared that Aviation Secretary Hasan Nasir Jami was illegally working as acting director general (DG) of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and ordered the federal government to appoint permanent director general until December 8.
However, a petition was filed against this appointment that was outrightly rejected by the IHC terming it inadmissible.
The petitioners’ lawyer had prayed to the court that the IHC had ordered to appoint DG CAA but the government has appointed an official of the Utility Stores Corporation as DG.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah said already the appointment of the DG CAA has been made after a lapse of two years and the aviation industry had suffered due to this so why the court should hear this petition.
The court said the petition does not lie in the jurisdiction of the contempt of court law and warned the petitioner to be vigilant otherwise he could be fined heavily for moving baseless petitions.
