Indonesian President to visit Pakistan on December 8–9



The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto set to visit Pakistan on December 8 and 9, the Foreign Office confirmed on Sunday, marking an important bilateral engagement between the two countries.

According to a spokesperson, the visit is taking place on the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and will include a high-level delegation of ministers and senior Indonesian officials.

The spokesperson noted that the last presidential visit from Indonesia occurred in 2018, and this year’s trip carries particular significance as Pakistan and Indonesia celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. 

Officials described the upcoming engagement as an opportunity to bolster political, economic and strategic cooperation.

During his stay, the Indonesian President will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on expanding trade, investment, defence and cultural partnerships. 

He is also scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, as well as the Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in a bid to enhance defence and security collaboration.

Diplomatic sources expect the visit to result in renewed commitments and new areas of cooperation as both countries seek to deepen long-standing ties.
