Markazi Muslim League successfully conducts third phase of intra-party elections

Markazi Muslim League successfully conducted the third phase of intra-party elections in Lahore on Sunday.

Polling was peaceful, orderly and transparent in 16 union councils, where separate stations were set up for men and women. 39 candidates participated in this phase, while 16 presidents were elected.

During the election activities, Punjab President Ch Muhammad Sarwar, Central Punjab President Chaudhry Hameedul Hassan Gujjar, Chief Election Commissioner Party Engineer Haris Dar, Lahore President Engineer Adil Khaliq and General Secretary Lahore Dr. Muzammil Iqbal Hashmi visited various polling camps. A five-member committee was also formed to supervise the polling.

Deputy General Secretary Khalid Nek Gujjar and Dr. Muzammil Iqbal Hashmi completely rejected the government’s new Local Government Act, saying that the act is an attempt to empower the bureaucracy by taking away powers from local representatives, which is an anti-people and undemocratic move.

The party leadership, while appreciating the spirit of the workers, said that a transparent, democratic and grassroots level system is the true identity of the Central Muslim League, and delegating powers to the grassroots level is our primary mission.
