Motorway Police shut M-11 as visibility drops in Punjab

Dense fog forced the closure of the Lahore–Sialkot Motorway M-11 on Sunday morning as visibility dropped to dangerously low levels, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the motorway police spokesperson, the temporary shutdown was necessary to safeguard the lives and property of commuters amid worsening weather conditions.

The spokesperson warned that lane violations during heavy fog often result in serious accidents and urged motorists to maintain strict lane discipline.

The spokesperson advised the motorway travellers to schedule journeys during daylight, with officials noting that the safest travel window in foggy conditions generally falls between 10 am and 6 pm.

The spokesperson further instructed drivers to use fog lights at all times, keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, avoid unnecessary travel and refrain from speeding.

Motorists seeking assistance or guidance were encouraged to contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130 as visibility remained poor across several stretches of the motorway network, the spokesperson said.

Lahore become most polluted city in the world

Lahore once again gained the first position as the world’s most polluted city. The Air pollution in Lahore has increased once again, and the minimum temperature will reach 8 degrees, the maximum will reach 22 degrees, and the humidity in the air is 68 percent, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) level at Iqbal Town was 249 percent, ARC 248, Burki Road and adjacent areas 210, DHA Phase-I and surrounding areas 209, Badian Road and adjacent areas 199, and Askari-10 167 percent.

Air Quality Index (AQI) in Gujranwala was recorded as 437, and in Faisalabad 375.

Karachi became the world’s eighth polluted city. The Air Quality Index was recorded 168. Karachi will experience an increase and cold temperatures from tomorrow.

Residents of Islamabad are also experiencing cold weather, and the maximum temperature will increase to 22 degrees centigrade, while there is no chance of rain during the next twenty-four hours in the federal capital.

The winds are blowing at the speed of seven kilometres per hour. The minimum temperature of Islamabad was recorded at eight degrees centigrade in the morning.

The percentage of moisturiser in the air was recorded at 50 percent.
