UK introduce quick-release hijab for Muslim women police officers

The United Kingdom (UK) has introduced a specially designed hijab for Muslim women serving in the police force, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday. 

According to the report, the new headscarf incorporates a quick-release system, allowing officers to remove it instantly if it is grabbed or pulled during physical altercations.

The innovative design aims to enhance the safety of female officers by preventing potential choking hazards. 

The lower portion of the hijab is engineered to detach immediately under force, ensuring that women can remain protected while performing their duties.

Police authorities said the initiative reflects a broader commitment to inclusivity and practical safety measures in uniform policy, allowing officers to maintain their religious observance without compromising operational effectiveness. 

The new hijab is expected to be gradually introduced across police forces in England, Scotland, and Wales.
