Kim Kardashian breaks silence on ex Kanye West as Lewis Hamilton romance heats up
Kim Kardashian has broken her silence on where she truly stands with ex-husband Kanye West, just as intense speculation builds that her long-standing friendship with Formula One icon Lewis Hamilton is tipping into something far more serious.
The reality TV mogul and business powerhouse spoke candidly after a whirlwind European escape that sent fans into overdrive, with sightings that placed her firmly at Hamilton’s side across the UK and France.
In an interview with Complex on Thursday, Kardashian reflected on the current state of her relationship with West, years after their highly publicized breakup. The pair first met in 2012, married in 2014, and separated when Kim filed for divorce in 2021, with the split finalized in 2022.
Despite the turbulence, Kardashian emphasized that their shared role as parents remains central. Together, they raise four children: North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, six.
When asked about recently promoting West’s Yeezy boots on TikTok, Kardashian addressed the situation head-on, stressing that some bonds do not disappear with divorce. She said they are "always family." She added, "We both know that," followed by, "We will be okay, and there's so much love for our family. We want what’s best for our kids."
Her comments followed her appearance on the latest episode of Khloé in Wonderland, where she acknowledged that after years of post-marriage tension, her dynamic with West has begun to stabilize. She revealed that the two have even started to reconnect through North’s growing interest in music production.
During the podcast, Khloé observed, "You guys are in a much better place."
Kim agreed, explaining, "I'm a really empathetic person. I mean, at the end of the day, we're always family. I always look at it that way, no matter what's going on."
She continued, "There are times when I have to be super protective and there are times when, you know, at any moment, I would love that relationship. And I've always talked about that."
Discussing North’s creative bond with her father, Kardashian said, "The music side and the producing isn't my thing. And that's her bonding thing with her dad."
She went on to describe the careful co-parenting balance they now maintain, saying, "But even just like coming up with stuff, we have to communicate about how North moves through that world and all these opportunities that come her way and having to filter that and like respecting his opinion on the things that go on with his kids is really important."
Summing up their current approach, she added, "So yeah, I think he's so good at doing that. I think it's important for the kids. You just kind of have to put all the other stuff aside."
While Kardashian has been redefining her relationship with West, her recent movements with Hamilton have fueled intense curiosity about her romantic future.
Over the weekend, she reportedly flew to the UK aboard her $150 million private jet for a brief but intimate 24-hour stay with Hamilton at the ultra-exclusive Estelle Manor in the Cotswolds. Sources claimed the pair shared a room in the main house, indulged in a couple’s massage, and enjoyed a private dinner before departing Sunday morning.
Just hours later, they were allegedly spotted together again in Paris. Photographs show the pair arriving at a Paris hotel in an SUV around 1pm local time, and that evening Kardashian stepped out in a bold sheer look for another dinner date at Aqua Kyoto.
Although the sightings appear sudden, Kardashian and Hamilton have known each other for more than a decade. They were first photographed together in 2014 alongside their then-partners, West and Nicole Scherzinger, at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London. The following year, Hamilton spent Easter with the Kardashian-West family and joined the VIP section when West headlined Glastonbury.
Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, 70, has previously praised Hamilton’s career and even floated the idea that he could be a good match for her daughter Kendall Jenner.
However, one insider suggested expectations should be tempered. A source told the Daily Mail, "Lewis has been friends with the family for a long time and enjoys being around the family and their entrepreneurial ways. But Lewis isn’t looking to be a stepdad, not looking to be the 'it' couple with Kim."
The source added, "Their schedules are so demanding right now, so this setup works for them."
Kardashian has previously spoken about her complicated feelings toward dating following her marriage to West. Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast in October 2025, she admitted she would "absolutely" marry again for the right person, but said her past relationship has made romance more difficult.
She explained, "There have been situations where I’ll get close to someone, then it’s like, 'Wait, wait, wait, I don’t really want to deal with your ex. I don’t want to deal if he’s going to say something.'"
She added, "So, it has been a little frustrating, but then I get my person wouldn’t care about that."
West recently issued a public apology for his antisemitic remarks in a full-page Wall Street Journal advertisement on January 26. He attributed his behavior to bipolar disorder and claimed he lost "touch with reality." He also said the condition stemmed from a brain injury suffered in a 2002 car crash that went undiagnosed at the time.
Since her split from West, Kardashian has been linked romantically to Tom Brady and Odell Beckham Jr.
Hamilton, meanwhile, was in a long, on-and-off relationship with Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger from 2007 until 2015. More recently, he has been associated with model Ashley Moore in September 2025 and British singer Raye last summer.
Some of Hamilton’s former partners, including Scherzinger, have reportedly raised concerns about his temper. Sources claimed they are relieved Kardashian is making her own decisions, noting how difficult he could be in relationships.
A source close to Scherzinger told The Sun, "Lewis was the master of blowing hot and cold."
They continued, "One minute he would be buying her gifts and saying he loved her, the next he would cause an enormous argument and then ignore her for days."
The source added, "There was a real nasty streak. She would often be left in tears after rows with him."
They concluded, "He seemed to be a lot more interested in hanging out with his 'bros', than with his girlfriend."
