Finance Minister and Revenue Shaukat Tarin Friday warned that action will be taken against all without any discrimination if the tax is not being paid on time, reported 24NewsHD TV.
Speaking at the National Sales Tax Return ceremony in Islamabad urged everyone to pay tax before the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reaches them within the period of two months with documentary evidence of their assets.
Tarin said that the authorities will reach out to the tax evaders and provide them with tax returns with the opportunity to prove they are wrong by consulting the auditors’ panel or paying the taxes in due time.
Tarin said since the sales tax on goods was under federal and the sales tax on services was re-entering the provinces, so it was creating inconvenience for taxpayers.
The finance minister said that people living in big houses and using big cars pays very little tax.
Now the government is reaching out to everyone with the help of technology, added Tarin.
Finance Minister further said that if he remained in office, he would have to pay sales tax along with income tax.
