Punjab Arts Council in action: Lahore theatres warned over violating drama timings

Theatres in Lahore have been issued warning notices for failing to comply with officially approved drama timings, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to sources, multiple theatres in the provincial capital are not adhering to the prescribed schedule for stage dramas, prompting authorities to take action.

The violations came to light through the e-monitoring system, which revealed several illegal activities taking place inside theatre halls.

Officials said that some theatres continue staging dramas well past the permitted hours, with performances reportedly going on after 1:00am.

In several cases, theatre administrations were found switching off surveillance cameras to avoid detection while continuing shows late into the night.

Authorities disclosed that numerous complaints had already been received regarding cameras being deliberately turned off during late-night performances.

These complaints, combined with data from the e-monitoring system, strengthened the case for issuing formal warnings.

In response to growing concerns, the Punjab Council of the Arts has deployed officers and staff to monitor theatre operations actively.

Officials warned that theatres failing to comply with regulations could face stern action, including fines or suspension of licences, if violations continue.

The Punjab Council of the Arts reiterated that monitoring will remain ongoing and urged theatre owners and management to cooperate with authorities.
