Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said on Monday the issue of 24NewsHD TV’s closure should be resolved.

Commenting on Pemra’s orders to shut down 24NewsHD TV on July 3, Fawad said it was not prime minister’s job to resolve such issues; it’s the job of his team. He said that now Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz and Special Assistant to PM on Information Asim Saleem Bajwa are part of the prime minister’s team on media and there couldn’t be a team more professional than this.

Fawad said the government should not break up with any TV channel or media group. He said the government could not afford to watch silently if jobs of around 1,000 media workers are at stake. He said it’s going to be a problem if these media workers lose their jobs.
