84 buildings in Lahore risk collapse as monsoon season has set in

At a time when the monsoon season has begun, 84 buildings have been identified in Lahore, which are in extremely bad shape and might crumble at any moment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

As per a report, out of these 84 buildings, 69 are private residences while 15 house government offices. 

While there are 31 buildings, which are reparable, there are 32 others, which cannot be repaired. 

There are orders to bulldoze four such buildings immediately, says the report.

The report further says that there are 53 such buildings, which are inhabited by people, while 18 others are lying vacant. 

Similarly, 20 buildings are on rent, while 46 buildings are inhabited by their owners.

The report informs that first notices were issued to the occupants of 39 buildings to vacate them, while later notices were served on the occupants of 28 other buildings. 

It has been revealed in the report that most of the people are forced to live in these buildings since they have no other place to live.

On the other hand, DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza has said that notices have already been issued for the vacation of these buildings in view of the monsoon season. “Advertisements have also been placed in newspapers to inform the residents of the dangers of living in these structures.”
