Pakistan records 20.5pc rise in seafood exports

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhary has said that Pakistan has registered an increase of 20.5 percent in the export of seafood products worth $498.2 million during fiscal year 2024-25, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The minister announced these statistics while releasing the annual report about seafood exports of the country during the previous fiscal year 2024-25.

He said that China and Thailand are major buyers of Pakistani seafood products. 

He said that the credit for rising seafood exports is due to the comprehensive and effective export policy of the current government.

Fish meal, prawn, makerail, crab, and jellyfish are the most prominent items among seafood exports. He said that Pakistan is becoming a hub of seafood exports.

Junaid Anwar Chaudhary said that the inclusion of the value-addition policy in seafood exports played a vital role in the successful seafood export policy.

He said that the private sector also played a major role in increasing seafood items. Junaid Anwar Chaudhary said that Pakistani seafood products are gaining the attention of international buyers.
