Heatwave grips country as 'feels like' temperature hits 68°C in Sibi

A severe heatwave continues to grip large parts of Pakistan, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reporting dangerously high "feels like" temperatures in several cities.

The weather office has urged the public to take precautionary measures as extreme heat conditions persist across the country.

According to the Met Office, Sibi recorded the country's highest "feels like" temperature at a scorching 68 degrees Celsius.

Sukkur followed with 55°C, while Sargodha registered 51°C.

The department said the apparent temperature reached 51°C in Lahore, 49°C in Bahawalpur, and 48°C each in Hyderabad, Faisalabad, and Multan.

Karachi recorded a "feels like" temperature of 47°C.

Similarly, Dera Ismail Khan registered an apparent temperature of 47°C, followed by Bhakkar at 46°C and Sialkot at 45°C.

In Peshawar, the "feels like" temperature was recorded at 41°C.

The Met Office has urged people to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, stay well hydrated, and take other necessary precautions during the ongoing spell of extreme heat to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.
