Buffalo theft feud turns deadly again on Eid day as three killed in Sukkur
A longstanding dispute over buffalo theft between two groups of the Jagirani community turned deadly once again on Eid day, as three individuals were killed in an armed clash near Rohri in Sukkur district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
A child was also injured during the incident and was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
According to local police, the confrontation took place near the jurisdiction of the Jhangro police station, where tensions had been simmering since last year following the alleged theft of buffaloes.
While both sides had reportedly reached a peace agreement a few months ago, hostilities reignited during Eid celebrations, leading to yet another violent outbreak.
The police confirmed that the conflict, which began over a livestock theft in 2024, has so far claimed 13 lives, including the three victims of the most recent clash.
The police have launched investigations, though no arrests were immediately reported following the latest killings.
