Meghan Markle to be honoured at LA Gala on King Charles official birthday
Meghan Markle is set to be honoured at a glamorous Los Angeles gala on June 14, the same day as the British royal family gathers in London for the Trooping the Colour, marking King Charles III’s official birthday.
The Duchess of Sussex will take centre stage at the Night of Wonder event hosted by the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County, where she is expected to deliver a speech after being recognised for her “work to advance community wellbeing and expand opportunity, especially for underserved communities.”
However, MailOnline has revealed that the California gala has been organised by none other than Meghan’s longtime friend and influential Hollywood lawyer, Rick Genow, the very figure who helped manage the business side of the couple’s exit from royal life, often dubbed "Megxit".
Genow was reportedly part of the elite team Meghan quietly assembled while still a working royal, tasked with handling lucrative offers as the Sussexes prepared to relocate to North America.
While it remains unclear whether Prince Harry will accompany Meghan to the black-tie event, the couple has recently been ramping up their public appearances in Los Angeles. They’ve been spotted at high-profile events, including Taylor Swift and Beyoncé concerts, and were recently seen with Genow watching the LA Lakers from a $15,000-a-night luxury box.
The timing of the LA event has drawn attention, coinciding with the UK’s iconic Trooping the Colour parade, a ceremony the Sussexes once attended regularly.
Last year, however, they were not even invited. The contrasting images of royal pageantry in London and Hollywood glitz in LA underscore the growing divide between the Sussexes and the British royal family and Meghan’s increasingly prominent role in the American social and philanthropic scene.
