Upholding tradition, FJMU VC spends Eid with patients and on-duty medics

Continuing a tradition spanning over two decades, Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, spent Eidul Azha with patients and medical staff at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said a press release on Saturday.

Accompanied by the Medical Superintendent, Dr Arif Iftikhar; Chairperson of Medicine, Professor Bilqees Shabbir; Professor Farzana Latif; various department heads; faculty members; and hospital administrators, the VC toured the Emergency Department, Medical Ward and Surgical Ward.

He enquired after patients, conveyed Eid greetings, and distributed gifts and Eid tokens to doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff on duty.

Professor Gondal remarked that Eidul Azha is a day of collective joy for all Muslims and praised the Government of Punjab for ensuring quality public health services at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

He urged the public to avoid overeating and reminded everyone that sharing the pain of the sick and needy on this blessed day is a form of charity.

Extending his Eid greetings, Prof Gondal also paid tribute to the brave soldiers of the security forces who, away from their families, safeguard Pakistan’s geographical and ideological boundaries in service of the nation.
