Two boys drown while swimming near Korangi Causeway in Karachi
Two boys drowned while swimming in a river near Korangi Causeway in Karachi, police and rescue officials said on Sunday.
The children, residents of Manzoor Colony, had gone to the area with a group of friends for a picnic when the incident occurred.
According to police, the boys entered the river near Korangi Causeway to cool off amid the intense heat.
During the outing, two of the children were swept under the water and failed to resurface.
Rescue teams from Rescue 1122 conducted a search operation and recovered the bodies of both children from the river.
The bodies were later shifted to a hospital by a Chhipa ambulance for legal formalities.
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson identified the victims as 10-year-old Salar, son of Muhammad Imtiaz, and 12-year-old Fahad Hussain, son of Khurshid Ahmed.
