MNA Afzal Khokhar inaugurates four facilitation markets in Layyah

The Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority chairman and MNA Malik Afzal Khokhar inaugurated four “Sahulat on the Go” bazaars during a visit to Layyah on Saturday, 24NewsHD TV reported.

Under the initiative, around 300 street vendors (Rehribaans) have been upgraded to shopkeepers across different parts of the district, aiming to provide dignified employment opportunities and affordable commodities to residents.

According to officials, 106 vendors have been accommodated in Layyah city, 31 in Kot Sultan, 52 in Chowk Azam, 50 in Fatehpur, and 34 in Karor Lal Esan.

The project is expected to provide respectable business opportunities to nearly 290 families, while creating direct employment for about 30 additional families.

Authorities said the modern stalls would not only help organize local markets but also enhance the aesthetic outlook of urban areas.

During the visit, Afzal Khokhar inspected various stalls and reviewed the quality and prices of items being sold.

He also interacted with shopkeepers and expressed satisfaction over the availability of fruits, vegetables, groceries, and chicken at prices even lower than those officially notified by the district administration.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairman said that under the vision of the provincial government, street vendors had been transformed into shopkeepers through the Sahulat on the Go markets.

He added that traders are being provided dignified employment while consumers can purchase quality goods in a peaceful environment at affordable prices.

MPA Samia Ata Shahani, former MNA Syed Saqlain Bukhari, and Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Dogar accompanied Afzal Khokhar during the visit.
