Confirms 31 civilians killed and 57 injured during Indian strikes
Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry launched a scathing attack on India Wednesday, accusing it of cowardly targeting civilian populations in a series of overnight air strikes on May 6 and 7.
In a fiery press conference, Lt Gen Chaudhry accused India of cowardly targeting women, children, and civilian areas under the cover of night. “Our strong desire for peace should never be mistaken for weakness,” he warned. “We will take account for every last drop of innocent blood spilt in this unjust aggression.”
The DG ISPR confirmed that 31 civilians were killed and 57 injured as a result of unprovoked Indian aggression targeting non-military zones deep inside Pakistani territory.
“No condemnation is enough for what India did. These strikes show the real, disgusting face of our enemy—an enemy too weak to face us soldier to soldier, so it hides in the shadows and attacks innocent civilians,” he said.
The strikes, carried out under the cover of night, hit population centres far from the Line of Control (LoC), escalating an already tense situation.
Lt Gen Chaudhry criticised India’s pattern of targeting children and women, questioning: “Are these children the terrorists India claims to target? If this is not terrorism, what is?”
The DG ISPR has posed the question of whether the attacks by Indian forces on the night of May 6 and 7 did not amount to terrorism.
“What happened on the night of May 6 and 7 in which innocent children were targeted, if this is not terrorism, then what is? It is not surprising because once you start sponsoring terrorism, it takes a click to turn into a terrorist yourself.
“It is proven before the world with proof and evidence how India is involved in transnational terrorism and killings.”
He accused India of being a habitual violator of international norms and a proven actor in global terrorism, asserting that New Delhi’s hand in sponsoring terrorism across regions is no longer a secret.
In a firm rebuttal, the DG ISPR stated that the Pakistan Army responded with precision, targeting only legitimate military objectives across the border and avoiding civilian casualties.
He emphasised that Pakistan's retaliation was surgical and calculated, reflecting its commitment to ethical warfare even under provocation.
Highlighting the response by Pakistan Air Force, he declared, “Our Shaheens crushed India’s so-called superiority in the skies,” revealing that five Indian aircraft, including three Rafale jets, were destroyed in retaliatory strikes.
“What the Shaheens did is unparalleled in modern air warfare,” he added.
