Pakistan unveils junior hockey squad for Sultan of Johor Cup 2025

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced the national junior hockey team for the upcoming Sultan of Johor Hockey Tournament 2025, set to be played in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday. 

According to the official announcement, Ali Raza and Muhammad Faizan Janjua have been selected as goalkeepers for the tournament.

Muhammad Sufyan Khan, Muhammad Waseem, Samiullah, Muhammad Nadeem Khan, and Zakariya Hayat, all of whom have impressed in recent domestic and international junior events, are selected as defenders. 

The forward line features Aqeel Ahmed, Muhammad Imad, Abdul Hannan Shahid, and Ali Murtaza.

Other squad members include Rana Muhammad Waleed Ashraf, Hamza Fayaz, Abdul Qayyum, Muhammad Usman, Ashraf, Basharat Ali, Muhammad Shahir, and Saifullah.

Meanwhile, Yasir Sanawar and Muhammad Hassan have been named as reserve players.

Pakistan will open its Sultan of Johor Cup campaign on October 11 against host Malaysia, followed by a match against Great Britain on October 12.

The Green Shirts will then face arch-rivals India on October 14, New Zealand on October 15, and Australia on October 17 in the final league fixture.

The team’s management includes Kamran Ashraf as head coach, with Yasir Islam and Muhammad Azfar Yaqoob serving as assistant coaches.

Syed Abu Zar Umrao will act as the video analyst, while Adeel Akhtar will serve as the team’s physiotherapist.
